Vibroacoustic Therapy (VAT)

Sound Immersion (VAT)

Lie down on either a water filled sound bed or a sound immersion mat and feel the sound move through your entire body.

Low-frequency sound and gentle vibration create an immersive experience you don’t just hear. You feel it.

No experience needed. Nothing to accomplish. Nothing you need to be good at.

Just lie back and let the sound move through you.

A PLACE TO SLOW DOWN

You already know how to push through.

You’ve done it for years. Through the exhaustion, through the noise in your head at 2am, through the weeks where your body has been quietly asking for something and you’ve answered it with another coffee and a longer to-do list.

What you’ve forgotten is how to actually stop.

Not scrolling. Not watching something. Not lying in bed while your mind keeps running.

Actually stopping.

That’s what this room is for.

WHAT HAPPENS

You lie down. You’re warm, you’re supported, you don’t have to hold yourself up in any way.

Then the sound begins.

Low frequencies travel through through you, so you don’t just hear the music, you feel it in your chest, your legs, the back of your skull. Your body stops bracing because there’s nothing left to brace against.

Most people lose track of time within the first few minutes. Some drift somewhere between sleeping and waking and come back with images, memories, or a knowing they didn’t walk in with. Others simply sleep, properly, for the first time in longer than they’d like to admit.

You don’t need to be good at meditation. You don’t need to clear your mind. You don’t need to do anything at all, which for a lot of the clients who come here is the hardest and best part.

WHO THIS IS FOR

You, if you want deep relaxation without having to “do” anything

You, if you’re carrying a nervous system that hasn’t fully exhaled in years.

You, if you’re in the middle of something big and you need a place to put yourself down for an hour.

You, if you’re curious about what’s underneath the surface of you and you want a doorway that doesn’t require you to believe anything first.

TWO ROOMS, TWO EXPERIENCES

THE DEEP · WESTWOOD
Liquid Sound Immersion

We call it The Deep because the water-filled table creates our most immersive experience, surrounding the body in layers of sound and vibration.

A specialized water-filled sound table distributes vibration beneath the body, creating an immersive experience you can hear and physically feel.

THE CURRENT · HARRINGTON PARK
Vibroacoustic Sound Immersion

We call it The Current because the vibration moves through the mat and across the body like a current of sound you can feel.

The Current uses a specialized vibroacoustic mat to deliver sound and gentle vibration while you rest comfortably. No water, a different physical sensation, and the same invitation to slow down and experience sound beyond simply hearing it.

Two different experiences. One idea: give yourself permission to stop for a while.

Wear something comfortable. You’ll remain fully clothed throughout your session.

You’ve made time to slow down.

THE FINE PRINT THAT ACTUALLY MATTERS

Sound Immersion sessions at Awaken Sphere are offered for relaxation and personal well-being. They are not medical care and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any medical condition. Individual experiences vary. Sound Immersion is not a substitute for care from a licensed healthcare provider.

YOU CAN READ ABOUT IT, OR YOU CAN FEEL IT.

There are some experiences that make much more sense once you’ve actually had them.

This is one of them.

A space to restore balance, flow, and connection.

What is Vibroacoustic Therapy?

Vibroacoustic sessions use gentle, low-frequency sound vibration to support relaxation, body comfort, and nervous-system settling. It’s a non-invasive approach that’s been used for more than 40 years. Because our bodies are made up mostly of water, these sonic vibrations move through the body at a deep cellular level, encouraging a more balanced, settled state.

Sensations vary by person and by the frequency being used. Your practitioner starts the vibration at a low level and gradually brings it up to a working intensity, one you can feel and settle into.
With VAT, less is more, but that doesn’t mean barely feeling anything. It means finding a level strong enough for your body to sink into, without being so strong it makes you tense up. That settled level is what lets your nervous system shift out of “alert” mode and into “at ease”, the same shift your body makes when you finally unwind after a long day. If the vibration stays too strong, your body tends to brace against it instead of relaxing, which works against what the session is trying to do.

Absolutely. Some people drift toward sleep, while others remain awake throughout the experience. There is nothing you need to concentrate on and no “right” way to experience the session.

VAT cannot cure disease, but research and case studies point to it helping with:

  • Stress and anxiety reduction
  • Improved sleep
  • Pain relief from arthritis, injuries, cancer, and cancer treatments
  • Easier breathing for asthma and COPD
  • Lower blood pressure and better circulation
  • Faster rehabilitation after stroke, cardiac surgery, or knee/hip replacement
  • Symptom relief for MS, Parkinson’s, and Alzheimer’s

You don’t need a health condition to benefit; many clients come simply for stress relief or to ease everyday muscle tension.

If you’re hoping to start or deepen a meditation practice, VAT can help. The combination of sound and gentle vibration naturally guides your mind and body into a calmer, more focused state, so if meditation has felt difficult to access on your own, this can help you get there more easily and stay there longer.

What actually happens during a session?

You stay fully clothed throughout your session. When you arrive, your practitioner will begin with a brief check-in about how you’re feeling and what you’d like to focus on.

You’ll then get comfortable on a specialized vibroacoustic surface fitted with transducers that transform specific sound frequencies into vibration you can physically feel.

We offer several session options depending on the experience you’re looking for. If it’s your first time, we recommend starting with our Intro to Frequency session, so you can experience vibroacoustic sound for yourself before deciding what you’d like to explore next.

Once your session begins, there’s nothing you need to do. Simply get comfortable, listen, feel the vibration, and allow yourself the time to slow down.

When the session ends, your practitioner will give you a moment to reorient and check in with you briefly about your experience before you head out.

Visit our booking page for current session types, lengths and availability.

  • Use the restroom beforehand
  • Have a small drink of water before you begin
  • Wear comfortable clothing, no need to change

Your practitioner will be with you at the start to get you settled, then steps out to give you a private, quiet experience.

(For children, a parent or guardian may stay either in the room or in our waiting area.)

After your session ends you may be offered water.

Is there anyone who shouldn't do VAT?

VAT has an excellent safety record, but it isn’t appropriate for everyone. Please review the following before your first session and let us know in advance if any apply to you:

  • Pacemaker or other implanted electronic device
  • Active blood clots (thrombosis) or very recent bleeding/surgery
  • Acute or active inflammation, or a recently prolapsed disc
  • Recent whiplash, check with your physician first
  • Head injuries
  • Psychotic, pre-psychotic, or severe neurotic conditions, or a history of PTSD
  • Very low blood pressure (acute hypotension)
  • A recent heart attack
  • First-trimester pregnancy (second/third trimester may be possible with a physician’s clear bill of health)

If you have diabetes, let your practitioner know, some clients notice an “insulin feeling” during or after a session; VAT does not treat diabetes itself.

When in doubt about any condition, it’s your responsibility to check with your physician before your first session.

This is a wellness experience, not medical care.

If you’re pregnant, have a pacemaker or other implanted device, have a seizure disorder, or have any condition you’re currently under a doctor’s care for, please check with your physician before booking. We’d rather you asked.

If any of the conditions above apply to you, it’s your responsibility to check with your physician before your session and determine whether VAT is right for you. VAT practitioners are not medical professionals: they don’t diagnose conditions, treat disease, or replace your doctor’s care. If you’re managing an existing condition, we recommend keeping your physician in the loop.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on you and what you’re working on. Many clients feel a difference after just one session, but consistency tends to bring the best results. Typically, you may see results within 6 sessions. Your practitioner will help you figure out a plan as you go.

This also varies by person and condition, some clients do well with weekly or biweekly visits, others benefit monthly sessions. Your practitioner will help tailor a schedule to you and adjust it over time as your needs change.

Your well-being is a lifelong path. Let’s walk it together.
